sending gifts
Birthday, Christmas and “any time” gifts are always encouraged, but they aren’t gifts you will physically send and they will personally receive. Here’s how it works:
- Send us a check and write “gift” in the memo, along with your child’s name.
- You may also scroll to the bottom of this page and electronically donate an amount of your choice for your child’s gift.
- We’ll send your gift money to the Royal School. Once received, they will use it to purchase something the whole school really needs and will be gifted with recognition of the child and sponsor. The gift might be a goat, chickens, school supplies, books, etc.
WHY DO WE DO IT THIS WAY?
- The children have distinguished between those that have sponsors and those that do not because of the gifts they were receiving. Some have not received anything because they have not been sponsored yet. As mentioned before, your monies do not go directly to your child because they are stretched to help 4 -5 other children with all their basic needs. We feel it is fair the school has something all the children can benefit from.
- Buying a gift for the school there supports the Ugandan economy. We don’t want to harm the fragile economic balance in rural Uganda, and sending gifts from the U.S.A. will do just that. There are people who support their families by supplying the Royal School with goods, and if we stop buying, they will go out of business.
- It is also very expensive to send packages to Africa.
BIRTHDAYS
If you are wondering when your child’s birthday is, we probably won’t be able to tell you. The truth is, most of the children don’t even know. If you’ve been given a birthday for your child, there is a very good chance that someone along the way made one up. However, don’t let this deter you from sending a yearly “birthday” gift or card to your child. They love receiving them!
